When the time comes to upgrade your IT assets, the first step is decommissioning your existing hardware. This process begins with actually removing the equipment and can also involve everything from data destruction to returning leased units to the lessor.

There are several reasons that APCD is the logical choice for any business wanting to streamline the process of decommissioning their existing IT assets. On one hand, we’re able to manage the entire project. From separating leased and owned units to securely wiping data, we’ll oversee the entire process to make sure nothing is overlooked.

We also offer Installation Services, allowing us to install your new hardware at the same time we’re removing the old units. This limits downtime and disruption to your business. Once the retired units are removed, we’ll test them and remarket any that have remaining value to recover money for your business.

Project Management

If you’ve decided to decommission your old IT assets, APCD can manage every aspect of the project and make sure nothing gets overlooked. From separating owned from leased units to securely erasing data and disposing of equipment in an environmentally safe manner, we will be able organise the entire process so that its completed as efficiently as possible.

Asset Management

One of the greatest difficulties when decommissioning old assets is determining which ones were owned and which ones were leased. APCD’s REFRESH Easy program allows you to simply send in your master lease files with all your old assets without needing to identify them. From there we are adapt at handling any issues, including returning your leased units to the original lessors.

Reverse Logistics

APCD has been able to implement the most sophisticated reverse logistics program for IT hardware in all of Australia and New Zealand. We begin by physically collecting the retired units from your facilities. From there, we’ll either test the units and prepare them for remarketing or securely destroy them to protect your business’s confidential information.

Data Destruction

APCD can make sure your business’s information doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. Data can be wiped at your site or at our facilities, with your choice in selecting tools and processes used. We even offer physical destruction using drills and shredders. If you aren’t sure what procedure is best, we’ll lend insight from our decades of experience.

Test & Audit

Once this process starts, All assets except those scheduled for destruction are tested to determine their remaining operational life and value. Our engineers evaluate each item individually and a value is determined based on condition, completeness, and operability. You’ll receive a comprehensive report within 10 working days. When a unit still has value, we’ll remarket them for you and recover value.

Data Centre Relocations

APCD have proven to be the ideal partner for data centre relocations. These projects are extremely sensitive, and every aspect of the project needs to be expertly planned to avoid downtime or data loss. APCD will handle everything from disconnection and identification to configuration and reinstallation. We will even decommission old units and supply new ones when necessary.

Disposal & Recycling

APCD is committed to keeping waste to a minimum. Whenever possible, we’ll recycle retired units and refurbish them to be remarketed to the used IT asset marketplace. When this isn’t possible, we dismantle the equipment and separate it based on materials. The materials are then sent to partners who remanufacture them for new purposes.

We are a quality accredited organisation under ISO:9001, and we’ve even achieved ISO:14001 Environmental Quality Certification. When an asset tests faulty or a business does not want it to be remarketed, it is disposed of in accordance with environmental best practices and with minimal impact on landfill.
